So yours are $6k for top and bottom? I think I got quoted $7500k for top and bottom but my bottom teeth are fine along the front, they are crooked up the back, but I dont really care about that because you cant see it. The orthodontist did say that she would recommend a fixed retainer behind the teeth and I think that sounds like the way to go.

BTW, your teeth are already looking perfect to me. You will have a beautiful smile.

I like the idea of invisalign too Monnie, but then the ortho told me that I would have to take them out to eat or drink anything that is not water and I thought it sounded like a bit of a pain, so i'm leaning towards braces.

    $6k for top & bottom

It definitely pays to shop around, as I found out.

Even just "normal" metal braces were $8k where I got the Invisalign prices from.

To get braces do you have to get any teeth taken out?
the ortho told me that I need braces on my bottom teeth because I had teeth out as a child. there was too much room left in my mouth and as such my back teeth have grown crooked.

I have tried to ring around a couple of places but I keep getting told I have to go in for an appointment at each place, they wont tell me even a ball park figure. I might get another opinion elsewhere though and see what they come back with. I do have private health insurance through Australian Unity and they have an orthodontist at their clinic, however its about 1.5 hrs away and I'm not sure that it would be convenient to go there for the follow up appointments etc.

How often do you travel to the big city? Once on it does get tightened about 3-6 months. Depending. They would want to see you because of what type of damage etc I had a huge gap in my teeth from tooth removal and it's closed now.

I was initially turned off by having to go to the initial appts too, such a PITA. But I am really happy.

I get mine adjusted every 4 weeks, but another friend only gets hers done every 2mths? Different orthos I suppose...

Are u located near any cities?

I wouldn't be too put off by the distance. I started my treatment at a clinic then moved 3 hours away about 6 months in so spent the next 2.5 years travelling every 6-8 weeks to the appointments. It gave me a chance to catch up with friends and I was happy with the clinic.
