@Tahli, I'll be interested to see what sort of report they give you. Dr W likes to keep it vague ie 'she's responded really well and should have at least 10 follicles' yet my donor then had 21 follicles. I suspect he does the kind of scan I had once with a Dr where she took one look and said 'I won't even bother counting or measuring them there are so many'. Ahhh, the good old days lol. That was my first ever own egg cycle and I remember how gutted I was when they 'only' got 9 eggs after that comment.

I'm not sure. He did my lining scan but he only told me about the donor's follicle scan, didn't actually say that he did it, but I expect so. I've heard others say that was the type of response they got from him too. It seems that he likes to 'play down' the numbers - although, I can't remember exactly if he said at least 10 eggs, or follicles. We had 21 follicles, but 'only' ended up with 12 fertilised. So either way, he under-exaggerated.

And btw, they didn't inform me exactly when my donors scan was and didn't email me any results. I only heard about it at my lining scan appointment so are you sure they are going to contact you ?

Tahli – So much going on with you, you must be excited. Looks like you have a nice thick lining, ready for your embie to snuggle in. I am happy for you, that you fought for SD1, because of match to your son. Hoping you get more great embies from SD1 to choose from. I wouldn’t feel too bad about going to Dr W re using your two SDs, sometimes we have to do what feels right for us. I am hoping K, will understand. Hoping your donor scan went well. Exciting times ahead for you.

@faith15 - I think you made a great decision. I truly hope this next cycle works for you. @Tahli - Thanks for the kind wishes. I'm not sure if they did ICSI or regular IVF, but I got great results.

Just a different perspective re getting all the info about how the donor is progressing...... I never knew what was going on with my donor until the day of my first scan in CT when I asked how many eggs they were expecting to get. I had the impression that CFC didn't routinely provide the earlier info to the Recipient unless it was specifically asked for.

From my perspective, it didn't add anything other than stress to me to try to follow what someone halfway around the world was doing AND worry about whether my drugs etc were working. I just took the approach that CFC (in contrast to the aussie clinics) are really invested in good outcomes and go over and above to make sure there are options if a donor's cycle doesn't work, so they could worry about the donor and I would just worry about the recipient.

Funny how we all approach it so differently. Anyway, for yoru up coming cycles.

re egg numbers - follicles are only an indication and I get why they are hesitant to put big numbers in peoples heads. In my own egg cycles, I've had lots of follicles and got no eggs on one cycle, and others a seemingly normal amount of follicles and got 19 eggs but not all of them were mature etc. there are only so many factors from a follicle scan they can't tell you - they will give you an update on your donor generally on the day of your lining scan, it's more about how she is responding to the meds, if she's slow they will add on a couple of days. It's stressful, trust me I know but as Cathy said, it's kind of out of your hands. Dr Le Roux has always given us a vague update at our lining scan, like 'she is responding well, at her scan today we saw around 10 follicles' etc.

I fly out on Sunday morning Leyshoja... looking forward to getting back to my own bed, this charming cottage has a very charming mattress that's doing my back in!

BTW I had a dream about my OB last night and that I was pregnant again - hoping that's a sign

After a few tricky/uncomfortable emails & me really digging my heels in I have finally secured my first preference IVF sperm donor with my second preference sperm donor lined up for ICSI.

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #10

Nice work @Tahli - you ARE the customer after all. How are you contacting them - only email no phone calls? I'm STILL waiting to hear back that all systems are go for me to fly Monday. I'm assuming they are, but confirmation would be nice.
