I have been skulking around using all your great information but have been too nervous to join in as I am so nervous about getting hopeful again! BUT we're joining lots of you in Cape Town in August!
We have our first appointment with Dr Matabese (who seems lovely) on 24/08, we've a lovely donor (the choosing was so hard but now seems kinda unimportant?). We are excited/ terrified- its been 9 months since our last go and I'd forgotten what the day to day feelings were like! I am also remembering what an evil thing hope is (hubby not so much but that's our usual!)
Anyway, thank so much, we wouldn't even be at this stage if it wasn't for all of you posting so honestly as it seemed so difficult a step to go overseas for an egg donor, but reading all your stories has made it so much easier.
Good luck to everyone!

Hi Malkitek welcome to thread, far out looking at your signature you've had a really bad go of it love. Here's hoping CFC work their magic for you in August, you'll be in some good company over there with the ladies from here, if they are having a dinner you should go along! It's a good way to process all the emotions and a great way to meet some good friends as well.
AUGUST IS HERE AUGUST LADIES
AFM - I'm still waiting for bloody dates and it's doing my head in - apparently its because I can't take the pill that it's taking so long, which confuses me as I haven't been able to take the pill the two other times I've been over either but still managed to have my treatment plan well ahead of time... I'm supposed to leave on 5 Sept... so I'm pretty annoyed right now sitting her watching airfares increase by a few hundred every few days while we are on one income... Donor's testing all came back fine.... I'm just waiting on AF.
A bit strange that we don't have anyone to cheer on at the moment!? Everyone is waiting until later in the month.

Hi @Malkitek and good luck for August. I was the same as you... Would never have had the guts to go o/s for a donor or even known it was possible without this forum. Everyone made it sound so easy, and it was !!

January: Thanks for updating the roll call, still can't quite believe I've made it to the graduates section!
Good luck to the August ladies and everyone else at whatever stage you're at.
(Apologies for short post, baby is stirring...)

Emski & anyone else waiting to book fights soon. Just a tip I was given by a friend in the travel industry.
When you actually go to book flights online, use a different PC (or clear all your cookies which is a bit of a pain) to the one you have been using for searching as every time you do a search for a flight, the website leaves a cookie and the next time you return and repeat the search, it will remember you and often will give you a HIGHER ticket price. Obviously it doesn't always happen due to sales and ticket availability, but if you notice prices increasing every time you go back, this is what is happening. No point paying more than we have to !

Thanks Cathy I'll do that, I had to clear my cookies the other day for other reasons and pretty sure got different prices x

Blinky once Qantas booked my domedtic Syd-Bne return leg on the wrong date and as it was 5am arrival into Syd no help desks were open. They were not interested in helping me at all (it was a reward booking). Jetstar or Virgin got me on the next flight immediately with no waiting. I can't say much positive about my flying kangaroo experiences even though I'm a very frequent flyer with them. I avoid them as much as possible. I won't even speak aboutvthe time I was going yo NZ from Bris (via SYD) for a conference and we were on first flight out of Bris and we had to return to gate- they tried to tell us to come back the next day- not even one ounce of assistance. It was only my persistence and continual grumbling and finally calls to Qantas Club got 4 of us onto flights via Auckland and into Queenstown an hour late for our professional meeting (we should have been there the day before) but not a day late and totally missing it. Please don't think they will be helpful because on many occasions they haven't been.
In Seattle recently they booked my transfer to LA with another airline and even though it was business class I was not allowed to use that airline lounge. Almost inconceivable to me.
