Default Fiji or Qld? Or other ...First family holiday

Trying to arrange our first family holiday with a 5.5 and 4 year old
i don't know how the kids will fly al
    Not sure where to go!!
i hear qld will cost more than Fiji and the kids won't enjoy the theme parks at the age

Happy to go somewhere else in Australia if there's somewhere warm
and relaxing but also fun for the kids!

any suggestions be great!!! It doesn't have to be overseas or qld

We looked at going north qld for our first big trip when dd was 2.5yrs but it ended up being cheaper to do a driving holiday around New Zealand for a week. It was fantastic and not a huge flight. Im thinking of doing Fiji next.
As for theme parks in qld dd is 5.5 and loves all the theme parks. There are more things for her to go on at Dreamworld though if thats something you want to do.

We live on the Gold Coast, I think the theme parks would be good for kids that age
DD is 6 and we've had annual passes since she was 2.

I recommend Cairns! We have family there so go every year and it's just perfect for our family. The resort we stay at has so much there, 2 big pools, waterpark, mini golf, go karts, outdoor movie screen, big jumping pillows. The main part of town has a big man made beach, with a water play park just a bit further up, then a pirate playground near that. It's also central enough to do day trips to the rainforest, port douglas, catch the boat out to the islands. We always have so much fun there, DD always wants to stay there forever lol
