I did a bit more research last night and the shared bathroom (it is like at a pool with cubicles) would be between 10 other rooms!
The other hotel I found with my own bathroom it $30 extra for both nights. So $192 for 2 nights shared or $222 with my own bathroom. I need to stay in the cbd for court so I am pretty limited with choice.

    Default Wwyd hotel

No brainer for me.... Pay the extra $30 for your own bathroom and maybe skip a treat at another time. I don't know your situation OP, but an extra $15 a night for your own private space for toileting, showering and general getting ready (especially if you are concerned about your ds' sleep) sounds well worth it.

What city are you traveling to? Someone might have some suggestions.

I am going to be in Perth.
I was thinking as well. If I get my own bathroom I can relax in the bath while ds is going to sleep so I don't disturb him.

Is there backpackers accommodation in the CBD?

    Some have ensuited rooms.

    ETA I found this:
    https://www.yha.com.au/hostels/wa/pe...ackers-hostel/

They have family ensuite rooms for $135 per night. Double private rooms with an ensuite are $112 per night.

I wouldn't have a clue if it is near where you need to stay though.
I think $222 was total for 2 nights, not per night?

$111 per night for a hostel style room, even with its own bathroom sounds pretty expensive. I just booked a a really nice 5 star apartment hotel in Perth CBD (Fraser Suites) for $160 per night through booking.com... It might be worth having a look around at websites such as hotels.com, booking.com, wotif, etc to see what specials they have going. You might able to pickup something nicer for $111 per night and it can be a treat at the same time

I would fork out the extra $30 to have a private bathroom, no question.

If it made a significant difference (say if the saving was closer to $100) I would consider a shared bathroom.

Imagine if you got gastro, you couldn't leave your DS alone in a room. You need a bathroom attached to your room so you're close to DS all the time.
