    Default IV antibiotics? How long?

I have bronchitis, the GP said she thinks I'm close to developing pneumonia, so I'm on antibiotics. I'm on day 3 and they're not helping. I've been sick for a month, this is the second course of ABs. I felt better yesterday but the coughing is much worse today and I'm shattered. She said if the ABs don't work I might need to go to hospital for IV ABs.

Does anyone know how long I'd have to stay? Is it just a day/overnight thing or am I looking at a few days? It will be a hassle for DH & the kids if I have to go to hospital.

I've got pneumonia, I had one set of antibiotics at the hospital via Iv the the rest orally. They may just need to give you one dose by Iv, especially if you haven't developed pneumonia yet.

It will really depend on how sick you are, but probably better to go sooner, then you might only need the one dose as pp said.

When I had to have IV antibiotics but couldn't stay in hospital (DD was only 3 weeks old at time), I just went in every day to have it for the few days. Best to just go to hospital and see what they think though. Hope you feel better soon!

When you say one dose, is that just like an hour or so?

Oh ok well that's not too bad then. I'll see what the GP says tomorrow.
