Do you not have a boot release inside the car? Sometimes there is one down near the drivers right foot, in front of the drivers right knee or in the glovebox. Or I can use my key in the boot.

My car doesn't have one in the vehicle but when the car is unlocked there are 2 little pads that you press under the lip over the licence plate.
