We also seem to be coming to the end of four months of sickness!! YAY.
Forever! Lol. At least 3 years if I stay part time. I'm enjoying it though and in no rush to finish sooner. We seem to have a good balance between uni/life atm. But it's still very busy!

Shame about the sickness...hopefully no more for quite a while!

Are you both simply saying thank you instead?

Yep - thanks or thank you. I don't know why people treat teaching the words thank you as different to any other word. I don't shorten other words? But I don't expect ds to get them all correct either. Very few adults I know use the word "ta" instead of thanks/thank you themselves so it's just not necessary imo to use different language for kids.

My mum started saying it to her so I did the same. She doesn't get it yet so I'll just switch.

The only practical reason I can see people using it for (other than if it's just in the culture of their family for everyone to say ta), is so their kids can demonstrate very early that they can use appropriate "manners". "Th" sounds are very hard to get so a garbled "ank ou" might be hard for other people to understand! We are signing please and thanks to ds as well so no doubt he will start signing them before saying them!

Ohhh I should sign thank you to her. One of the very few I remember from my mum teaching me in childhood.
