    Default Moving catchment area Brisbane

A friend of mine is having trouble getting an answer to a query so I thought I'd ask here and hopefully someone might be able to help.

She currently lives with her in-laws and will be enrolling her son in Prep next year at the local school in the catchment area.

They are currently saving money to build their own place. She anticipates that they will be able to move out after her DS had been at the school for about 2 years.

When they move they will definitely be in a different catchment area as there is no land available where they are now. Will her DS still be able to attend the school where he is starting or will he have to change schools? Also if they have another child will that child have to go to school in the new catchment area or will they be able to stay at the same school as DS?

Any advice would be usual, she's tried to ask around but hasn't had much luck getting an official answer.

As long as he is in the catchment when he starts, he will be fine. We are renting in the catchment of a very sought after primary school and DS will start there next year. We will be looking to buy in 2-3 years and no way would be able to afford a mortgage here. The principal if the school confirmed that once they start, their place and the place of any siblings is confirmed doesn't matter if you move afterwards.

Check the school's policy. Some have guaranteed entry for siblings but others will only accept siblings if there are places still available after catchment kids have been accepted. I know our school is like this but it prioritises siblings above other out of catchment kids.
