Twinpalms at Surin Beach. Have been twice, planning another trip. Amazing!
Has its own beach club, 50m swimming pool, pool access rooms if you want. Great service & all rooms have large outdoor balconies.
100m walk to a range of restaurants on the beach. A few shops in the area Interesting to poke around on a rainy afternoon, mainly upmarket though.
    15 min taxi to Patong.
We found it the perfect mix.

Have also stayed at Banthai in Patong - have to say it's beautiful & once you are in the hotel grounds it's hard to believe you're in the middle of Patong.
Smack bang in the middle of great shopping & restaurants but can be full-on as soon as you walk out of the resort.
    Very close to OTOP market.

Pre kids Ayara Hilltops at Surin beach was amazing!

With our kids, Centara, Kata beach or Sunwing, Kamala beach were both great too!

I've been looking at Centara - there seems to be different areas -I'm looking at a room with a plunge pool. Did you like it there?

Anyone stayed at Centara Karon? I've booked there through a travel agent and now am thinking it was a bad choice.

I stayed at Centara Resort Karon beach in Feb with my family, trust me you won't regret it! It has great pools with water slides for the kids, food is lovely, great kids club. The best thing about it is the location, right outside the gates are fabulous places to eat (much cheaper than the resort), and shopping. Beach is not too far away. We also stayed at Patong beach and much preferred the quieter Karon.

We had friends at the centara. It looked nice and was in a great location. I think we'd stay there if we went back. The Novotel was good though, only opened in October last year so everything is still new. Amazing breakfasts too. Bit more of a walk into town but still wasn't that far.

A friends daughter stayed there and liked it, so I'm considering it. If you are going soon you can let me know when get back. I like the look of the pools - we like pools more than going to the beach.
