The War Memorial!
Don't know about places to eat because I haven't been there in years (grew up there but left when DS was 7 months old).

There is always the restaurant at the top of Telstra Tower...if it's still as good as it used to be.

Eating out: ottoman & Italian and son are both great for a nice meal out.
I think everyone else has covered the sights. 😊

Braddon or the Kingston Foreshore for food.
Or if you like American style food, head to Smoque either in Civic or Woden, depending on where you are staying.
As for things to see:
Parliament houses - Old Parliament House is my favourite
Gold Creek. Out here is Cockington Green. I'd also head to Adore Tea for a cuppa.
Telstra tower is good, but I prefer the view from Mt Ainslie
The Art Gallery and the Portrait Gallery

Well, there you go lol. My parents used to go there a bit when we first moved to Canberra (I was 6 months old). Then they used to frequent The Hermitage but I do believe that changed hands. They used to know the owner.

Ramas is fantastic.
Dickson has a bunch of great restaurants all together.
Gus' cafe is an institution (it's opposite the Canberra center) and does an awesome breakfast.
As for sightseeing :
The national museum
Zoo and aquarium

Tilly's in lynham is great for coffee or a meal. The restaurant I'm Watson is also very nice. We lived nearby so went there a lot.
My favourite for a Friday or Saturday night was at the Hackett shops. I can't remember the name for the life of me but we'd go there for dinner and sit for hours. There breakfast was the best. It's owned by brothers and they were so friendly.
