Default What popular 'thing' was cool to start with but is now old?

So there are a few 'things' that have been in vogue for a while now that are now just boring / done to death / no longer trendy but just plain annoying.

It can be anything really, but my top 3 at the moment are:

Mason Jars with Paper straws: Paper straws are so bloody impractical and get all soggy and no longer work and you know what I like drinking out of a proper glass, not a jar with ribs on the rim that crap gets stuck in at cafés etc. Bleugh!

    Word art like this:

..... Especially ones that have cities or suburbs all listed.

Chevron prints - used to be awesome, now just too common as it was done to death.

Paper straws are the worst idea! They are so far from practical, but who cares if you can put polka dots on there, right?!

Most wall decals have been done to death, especially word ones. Some of the kids ones are cute though.

    Right!

I definitely still love decals for kids. I've got watermelon wedge ones for DDs new room and DSs name written in block letters with a wood effect printed in them (my avatar is one of them)

I love my son's wall decal. His room is winnie the pooh themed and there is a quote from winnie the pooh on the wall that I think is very fitting; sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.

    Anything hipster? :P

Big beards, 50s style glasses, "ironic" flannelette shirts, vintage maps as decor, erm...many others.

That's the problem with any trend, isn't is? Everyone thinks "ohhh, that's so cool!" then a little while later..."wait, EVERYbody does that. I'm not that lame, I want something different" :P Ahhh consumerism...

Hahaha! My sentiments exactly! It's even more annoying when you're an early adopter - or had the idea before it became popular, then everyone does the same! I've found this with our new house. We bought the original house 2 years ago and knocked it down after spending a year searching for the perfect place so I had all my ideas ready for 3 years and now a few elements I thought were quite unique / not done yet became popular!

As you say! Damn you consumerism!

Those bl00dy "keep calm and [insert ridiculous saying here]" memes/signs. I don't know why but I get irrationally annoyed by them, lol!

I also hate the names of some businesses. Either ones that say what they are on the street they're on. Say "Cupcakes on South"

Also colours and fruits or vegetables such as "Blue Watermelon" graphic design or "Purple Pumpkin" cafe (all made up names of course)
