I honestly think she's a con artist and has been from the start and I think trying to use mental illness as an excuse for her revolting behaviour is pretty offensive.

I don't feel sorry for her. Her 'confession' seems very focussed on how she herself is a victim, and there is nothing in there about empathy for the victims of her fraudulent behaviour. The lies she spun were dangerous. She encouraged true cancer victims to reject treatment and offered up her lies as proof that her way of doing things works, and then made money from it! She's a dangerous con artist with seemingly no remorse other than that she was found out.
I would have more sympathy for her if she truly accepted responsibility for what she's done and thought about her victims for more than a moment. Instead she's rambled in a confused way about how she has been victimised by everyone.
Her interview was very frustrating, and made me angry to be honest.

She's a scammer. A Munchhausens patient does it for attention, reinforcement etc. Not for financial gain. Had she told all her family and friends she had cancer I'd believe she was mentally ill. But her making money from it crosses over into scam artist to me.

agree with everyone else
she is a scammer.
and now that she has been caught - is trying the "I am a victim too" card.

I think I agree with everything everyone has written here! Which is why I'm so confused.
I feel really sorry for her partner. You know, the part in the article where she said that he was saying 'just come clean. Tell me everything' sort of thing. And she still hasn't done it. I mean, what do her comments even mean? That she herself doesn't know whether she's lying?
@cheeeeesecake, there are a lot of comments on social media that echo your thoughts - you know, buyer beware, why would you believe it just cos it's on the Internet? sort of comments. And I do understand that. But I can also imagine how people can be so desperate to stay alive and if traditional treatment isn't working and this seems to have worked, well...these people are compromised and vulnerable too I think? I don't know.

She should be forced to pay all the money back.
I don't think she's got a mental illness. I think she's a massive liar who got caught out on an incredible scale and is now saying/ doing whatever she can to avoid the sh*tstorm she's created.
I feel bad for the people who saw false hope because of her lying, manipulating self.
She should be held accountable.

I think everyone (not just on here) is being far too quick to assume mental illness and place responsibility with that.
Belle has been able to lie for so long because people have always fallen for it. She's an attention seeker and a serial copy + paste-r.
When she was unknown, she was always posting photos and recipes of the food that she cooked (or claimed to) and her friends encouraged her to make something of it. Given she was a vocal anti vaxxer and vegan, as well as a friend of Jess Ainscough, she had the right connections to gain a fast following for her alternative claims.
