Well it appears it's not over after all - the rain keeps on coming and it's heavy
I'm at work today because the power is back on in the office and I've got a crud load of work to get catch up on.
Our property manager is trying to help out by getting in touch with the owner of our house to see if they can get the tree moved off our roof. Hopefully it can be attended to today, it makes me so nervous with it just sitting there. The foundations of the veranda roof are slowly buckling. The extra weight of the rain is going to make the load even heavier.

Another fence panel practically toppled. Tree remained in tact as a big root is actually under the concrete path!
We keep getting down pours but the wind is quite calm!
Now its just about trying to get some food. Tried to hit the shops earlier but it was impossible.
The kids have survived on baked goods today.

Safe here and lucky to have power and water. Huge trees down all around us and chainsaw gangs cutting them up and clearing the debris. My poor sister is at home with 3 kids and no power. Lucky she has a gas stove and plenty of slowly defrosting meals in the freezer!
Feel sorry for those poor ppl who have lost their lives.
Wondering why we weren't given warnings via the media as they give when these events are approaching QLD? I tried to drive to work yesterday morning in cyclonic winds and was turned around at a roadblock. Would not have attempted the drive at all had the media adequately described the severity of the conditions. I had abc 24 on all morning before I left for work and not a mention. Oh well I was lucky to make it back home unscathed. When I got home I switched to local radio and they seemed to have a better handle on it.
Stay safe all.

I said the same thing @Skyler about no govt warnings like Qld's get about approaching storms/cyclones. I thought it was strange. I only saw 1 in the news last night but no others except the strip across the bottom of the screen.

Like a page called Higgins Storm Chasing on FB. They had a heap of warnings and updates on it all. I tend to find they have more warnings published than BOM. They mainly focus on QLD weather but will update on the big things elsewhere in the country too.
