Loved mine and wasn't ever in the capsule longer then 2 hrs as I'd be feeding every 2 hrs atleast and when out shopping would alternate between carrier and pram as liked neither for long periods.

The time limit recommendation is to do with Bubs breathing. When their chins touch their chest they have reduced capacity for breathing, keeping in mind their air ways are so tiny and don't take much to compress.
Anything that places Bubs in a position that isn't flat laying or sitting upright on your chest etc should be kept to a minimum. Once Bubs has more head and neck control- this time limit isn't such an issue.
I never had a capsule- mostly because of budget. We just couldn't justify buying a capsule for only 6mths or so only to have to upgrade to another seat. But I can see their benefits particularly if you have older children, school, kindy dropoffs etc.
I used a baby carrier a lot instead and sometimes just sat in the driveway waiting for dd to finish her nap on the odd occasion. Slightly annoying sometimes- but not the end of the world.

I had a capsule and thought the time limit was a lot less than 2hrs! We probably had ds in it for 1-2hrs max, we didn't need longer as he wouldn't sleep in it that long.

When I bought my travel system I had no idea there was a time limit. DD spent a lot of time in it traveling to and from hospital and waiting for doctors. She slept in it loads.
It really was the best thing for us. I loved it.
