    Default Strip and Stretch

So im due today to have my second bub today and Dr is going to induce me in 6 days if nothing has happened. This morning I had a strip and stretch and Dr said my cervix is still quiet hard. Will the strip and stretch do anything with my cervix still being hard?

Oh ok, Ive had a few pains this afternoon. Not sure if its something starting or not. Dr usually doesn't allow patients to go more than 7-10 days overdue.

What gestational age was your first baby born?

I'd really be questioning why you need to be induced so early. Give bubba more time to come on their own.

And a stretch and sweep is only going to work if your body is ready anyway. If it's too early, cervix hard, closed, high, there's not much point. At 40 weeks mine was like this so it wasn't attempted. At 41 weeks, much better. She came a few days later at 41+5 after 3 sweeps to help her on her way. Each time cervix was softer and more open.

In some countries, due date is actually 41 weeks.

Baby isn't "due" at the magical 40 weeks number. He won't be much longer though

Sex and evening primrose oil capsules shoved up your vagina are some ways to ripen the cervix. Also if bub is not engaged then it's more difficult to ripen cervix.

I Dont understand why your doc is rushing you.

Don't want to be a downer, but I took EPO orally and vaginally from 37 weeks, had 3 stretch and sweeps, and tried all the other methods but still had to be induced at 40 + 10 days just to prepare you that sometimes it just doesn't work so don't stress yourself out too much over it!

Might help to try some other things like trying to express some milk, sex ect. These things stimulate oxytocin release and oxytocin is also responsible for contractions. Might help in starting to shorten and soften your cervix.
