    Default 7 weeks measuring 5+5

So I unexpectedly fell pregnant with number 3, but know for sure the date of conception was 7 March, even though my cycles can be irregular. All the online calculators I used said I am 7 weeks now. Based on a LMP of 18 February with an average cycle length of 31 days.

At my dating scan yesterday however, bub was measuring 5w5d. Heart beat was 111 bpm. So it would appear everything is well except I can't explain that dating. I definitely would have conceived either on 7 March or a couple of days later if I ovulated after we DTD. Didn't think sperm would survive too much longer than that!!

So I'm thinking there might be a problem with the growing embryo if it's measuring over a week smaller than it should be. Probably going back in a couple of weeks for a repeat scan.

    Thoughts and experiences please?

I know sperm can survive up to 5 days... Does that help at all?

Might do, thanks. Then I would only be measuring about 4 days behind which would be in that normal range for error and natural variation......so it's possible.

My surprise #3 was conceived 5-6 days after we DTD, so it's possible!

With my first son i went for a dating scan at what i thought was 7 weeks - he was only 5w6days. I was worried too but he is now a healthy 2 year old. Dr said i must have ovulated later than usual plus the sperm can live up to 5 days.
This pregnancy is bang on period date.

With DD I went for my dating scan thinking I was 6+5, but they couldn't see anything so put me back to 5+2. We went back 2 weeks later & was put at 7+5, so a week behind my LMP dates. Then DD arrived at 36+5 in perfect health & is now 17mo, so I think maybe I was right all along. Good luck!
