We are hoping that you can help create some awareness for us. We have just started up a Facebook and Instagram page centred around creating awareness about Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH). DDH is the abnormal development of the hip joint in early childhood. In most cases it is picked up and diagnosed in the first few weeks of life. However if not picked up at a young age it is much harder to treat and usually requires invasive treatment such as surgery.
Our youngest children (Oliver and Angelina) both have DDH. Both cases were not picked up early. Oliver’s case was found at around 4 months of age. He is currently wearing a brace 22 hours of every day and is almost 9 months of age. Angelina’s case was picked up at 12.5 months of age. She has had to have surgery and is currently in a cast which consumes most of her poor little body. She is no longer mobile. It is devastating.
We are hoping that you could assist us in any way possible. We want to educate parents on the signs and symptoms of DDH so that cases can be diagnosed early on in the child’s life and not lead to invasive procedures. We need people power to spread our message far and wide.
Please let us know if you can help us with our campaign. We look forward to hearing back from you.

Absolutely! My youngest had it, luckily it was picked up at her first well baby check so she was only in A Von Rosen brace for a month or so. She's actually about to go have have her two year check up at the hospital soon.
