I have never had a cleaner but I thought that part of their job was to clean things like if you had washing up in your sink... I seriously had no idea that your house was supposed to be clean before a cleaner came!

If she's flexible I'd ask her to come the next day.
Frothy frog, I tidy the house before the cleaner comes because I don't want her to spend the two hours she's here putting stuff away or doing dishes, ie the 'easy' stuff. I want her to be able to have time (and time to do it well) the big cleaning chores I despise or never get around to. If she had to tidy up or work around clutter she wouldn't have time to do her job. It's just consideration for both of us really if I take 15 mins to tidy before she comes.

Glad you aren't asking her to reschedule - I would consider it very rude to do that. She probably has more clients than just you and late minute changes to her schedule would probably just mess her around. If I want my cleaner to come on a different day for whatever reason I usually give them a couple of weeks heads up.

I've seriously thought about getting a cleaner because I hate mopping my house! Tidying before a cleaner makes sense to me for efficiency reasons, although I wouldn't mind if someone else did my dishes every now and then :P
I guess whether they tidy or just clean would be something that would have to worked out and made clear between cleaner and client when they get hired.
Hope it all works out for you OP!
