After seeing the photo, can you fill it with maybe poly filler and get paint it same colour, or something?

Otherwise just ignore it, act oblivious, and shrug it off if she mentions anything.

As a previous poster said, she should have spare tiles left over anyway....

Sweet geebus, woman! My advice was going to be "DON'T TOUCH IT!". Don't put porridge on it, don't put crayon on it, don't go near it again!

You can't pretend you never noticed it if there's some crayon or porridge on it. I'm with the others, it's not worth the drama. It was an accident but you know she won't see it that way so don't mention it and if she ever does you go "oh my god, really? I'm so sorry, I never noticed!" or if it takes her long enough to notice she might think someone else has done it anyway.

Normally I'd be an advocate for truth telling but some people are just too much hard work.

If she is so particular about her tiles she will most likely notice of it has been replaced. The grout will probably look cleaner around the new tile.

If you don't get along well I'm going to assume MIL thinks the world of your partner (her son). Why not get him to say he accidentally dropped something and chipped the tile? She will probably brush it off like its no big deal.

That's it! I was expecting something massive… Nah stuff that hey. Like even the fact you are scared of her over that is just like woah she must be a pretty intense lady… Yeah just play it cool do not draw any attention to it. If she questions it be all like I don't know what you're talking about i never noticed it. Seriously though I couldn't imagine being around someone that anal… Go have a cuppa and forget about it seriously...

Delete the photos, ask nomsie to obliterate any thread with a mention and forgive and forget!

It isn't worth the drama and I agree don't tamper with it just ignore it ever happened

I need you to look at this little light here for me.

OK you had a good day today, played with dd a little, fixed you a nice lunch and then put on some washing and watched Dr Phil and Ellen.

Just a nice ordinary, uneventful day.
