Man I go have a baby and this thread blows up.... Congrats to everyone... So many more coming up...

Well I think I have the worlds best baby... He doesn't fuss much and sleeps pretty good at night... Me however, had high temperature and am now on antibiotics for mastitis... Milk supply still low and not enough to support demand... And feeling really run down... Glad my mom is here she's been able to help watch Wyatt while I sleep...

Down have any "lump" per se but just a bit of a red area on my breast... Hot showers, massage, and using heating pad to try and get it loosened up... Also baby latching and expressing in between when I can...

So tired... Off to take a nap.

@Soques sounds like you've had a really bad run. Hope it resolves for you soon and great news about your little man.

Oh @Soques - that's really tough! Glad you have some help. Your body has been through sooo much - you deserve to be kind to yourself. I think today's society is so hard because it really does take a village. Mastitis is harsh and I'm told that the fever that cones with it is just awful, almost delusional!

I think I'm doing really well @ScubaGal. Hospital bags are now repacked and hubby thinks he's all set for looking after us. I thought I had a trickle of waters breaking last night but it was a false alarm. The baby has thankfully been kind enough to give us time to organise our new apartment for his arrival (we only moved in on monday) and we had a last "fat skype" with family in Brisbane at 1am this morning!

Now for last minute panics over work (I'm responsible for co admin of our 4 companies, no replacement) and other whatevers.

Bring on the c-section on Tuesday!

Note: in Bogota, Colombia we're 15 hrs behind Brisbane so hopefully we'll have news n pics on Oz's Wednesday.

Feeling better... Fever stayed away after getting on antibiotics for 24 hrs... So just a couple of days left with that... Then will take a few extra days of probiotics to make sure everything stays balanced.

Keflex did seem to bother Wyatt a bit but not to bad... So pretty happy about that...

But need some advice with breast feeding... HOW DO YOU KEEP BABY AWAKE? I seem to get him latched he takes about 1 to 2 mins of good sucking and then he's asleep... But I know it's not because he's full... So I have tried, tickling his feet, tummy, neck, squeezing my breast, blowing on him, removing all clothes but nappy, sitting under a fan, different positions on feeding, and tugging on his ear, or and wet wash cloth and he sleeps through everything?

    Any other ideas.

Hehehe not to minimalist your worry but your description sounds so cute!
I'd ask an early childhood nurse for advice on that, I did a breastfeeding class but I don't know how long they're supposed to feed for. Is he feeding often? Maybe he's getting enough in many small goes.... Sounds like a good sleeper in the making though...

@ScubaGal they can feed from 10 to 30 mins... I have been trying to keep him attached and sucking for at least 15 mins, but that's hard enough... Takes about 30 for 15 mins of sucking and he's still hungry so I offer other breast and he does the same thing there...

He is then still hungry and need to suppliment with either expressed milk or formula...I believe if he can stay awake and feed he might not need to be supplemented any longer, but that's my issue...

Community midwife is coming around today. So will ask question then.
