Hi, I'm new to this thread My husband has sertoli only and tomorrow is the big day. He is having a mTESE and I'm having egg collection. We'll have donor sperm on back up, just is case. This is our first cycle, so it's all new for me.

I was really excited earlier this week, because something is finally happening! But now starting to get anxious about the operations (both under general), the recovery and the outcome! I don't know how well I'm going to sleep tonight ๐Ÿ˜”

Does anybody have any advice? Anybody had a successful mTESE?

@Barca07: I have been on this thread for a very long time. All the ladies here have given me a lot of mental support along the way. Few of us have recently "graduated" -- with pregnancy underway but still check in from time to time.

Over the course of >2 yrs i have been on here, I have seen few success stories with mTESE but maybe only 1 lucky woman has a live birth. Each case is different as well so it is extremely difficult to compare. I would classify our mTESE as a success in the end. Unfortunately, there is no live birth. I still don't know if it is me or the embryo since I later found out that i've a mild immune issue, which may and may not contribute to the loss. When you are only given one chance, you could only hope that everything goes smoothly. If you want, you can read back my story on thread #1, sometime back in Dec 2013.

It was certainly a roller coaster ride in a day for us. Everyone seems to have different pain feeling from the surgery. I've heard severe pain post-surgery for some but my DH didn't have ice-pack or even pain killer afterward. That's the bear minimum as advised by the Dr and nurses. Avoid walking for a good week if he could. You also have to take care yourself! A day of rest is generally adequate with a lot of protein and water (gatorade is a must).

Just a quick line to say my 20 week scan went perfect today, everything normal looking, and the genetic specialist said that my chromosome issue will not affect the genes of the baby. And... we're having a baby girl :-)) Which I promptly followed up with a nice cry to my DH, about kind of wanting to have a boy, so that he would feel more connected about it, but he just shook his head and says I need to stop being pessimistic!! Gosh, every step along this journey is trying to mess with my head and emotions!!

    Default Azoospermia #2

Woohoo, Bertie!!!! So happy for you!!!! Big smile on my face. Another milestone done.

It doesn't matter if it is a boy or girl. A baby is a baby and it takes us so long to get here with all the heartache!

Ps: my sis was told to have a gal until my nephew was born.

I watch my DF with our little one (we didn't know what we were having) and he adores her. I think the relationship between a father and daughter is a very special one, I am very close to my dad and I know that they will have a similar relationship, which makes me very happy

Congrats Bertie on a great scan and a gorgeous girl. My DH actually wanted a girl, and even after all we went through to get DS I think he suffered silently with quite a bit of disappointment after our Harmony results came back. Of course he is just besotted with DS, so I agree, it really doesn't matter when it comes to DH bonding. (Although if we're lucky enough to have a second baby I know we both want a girl next time, so I do hope he comes around okay again if it's another boy).

We had our procedures this morning.

The bad news is that we weren't the lucky few and they didn't find any sperm with the mTESE ๐Ÿ˜”

The good news is they collected 12, and I just got a phone call to say they were able to inject (ICSI) 9 with donor sperm๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm surprisingly feeling OK. DH is a bit rough though...

Now just to wait for the call tomorrow to see how many we have left...if all goes to plan, they are looking at transferring in Tuesday
