Can I ask why people who are opposed to the death penalty aren't currently condemning the Australian government?? If the prisoner swap had gone ahead, Australia would have sent three men to their deaths in exchange for these two.
I find it a bit confusing why we would do such a thing, tbh.

I dunno if they can be retried but the Australian government weren't in any particular position to come to an agreement over this. So if Indonesia had agreed and then these three received the death penalty in Indonesia, would that have been better because they werent Australian? Or would our government then have been the barbar1c ones, for placing someone elses life above another?

Actually, in this case I believe the Australian government would have played a part by choosing someone elses life over these three. If you send a drug smuggler to a country where the penalty is death, then you knowingly choose to have them killed, especially if you don't know if they'll be retried or not. Especially if you are handing them directly to their law people.
It's an interesting thought, anyway.

Its hard to speculate as we just dont know what would have been agreed upon behind closed doors. But you make a valid point, Australian agencies, knowing full well what the consequences would be when they tipped off indonesia, have already done what you are concerned they would do to the three Indonesians, so it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility I suppose. =Jennaisme;8124401]Actually, in this case I believe the Australian government would have played a part by choosing someone elses life over these three.
