Just to clarify, that particular word is "starred out" as such in the forum due to frequent use in a particular forum area and in certain threads which many members reported as being upsetting.

I too have been saddened and sickened by the thoughts expressed on social media.
I have compassion for these men and their families. The thought of them being shot is very upsetting, the thought of ANYBODY being shot is very upsetting!
Two wrongs will never make a right.

They have trafficked it into another country, I'm terribly sad for that. But I would rather be putitng money and effort for the children stuck in a detention centre FFS. Not these *** holes who have done wrong. It makes me furious. And yes I will say that. No they haven't rehabilitated. They taped the drugs onto there legs, knew they were going there for an amount of money. If they got out what would he do? If they served there sentence what would they do?

Because I know the people here trafficking drugs VIA drones to the jails to get a hit aren't rehabilitated. They don't want to be. They want that rush. They pay good lawyers to get out. Then they do it again.

I would love to know where the other Bali 7 are (out of the 9) sorry I don't follow the story that much.
The remaining seven are still in prison.

I am shocked at your attitude. Did you know these people had their families lives threatened if they didn't go through with the run?
21 one year olds do stupid crap all the time, they have grown up, served their time, let them serve more time if need be. Don't send them into a yard to have the crap shot out of them.

    Thank you for this thread.

I feel sick and distressed that this is going to happen.

What they did was stupid, illegal and wrong. I despise the illegal drug trade. But 20 years in that prison is surely sufficient. Not shooting them like animals.

Study after study has shown that the death penalty does not reduce crime rates in the slightest. This is a political act and a tragedy.

What if it was your child.....even if it took decades.... wouldn't they deserve a chance to be rehabilitated?

Out of curiosity, if they had murdered or raped someone but were rehabilitated in jail the same as these two are, would you still be arguing against them getting the death penalty? It's an honest question.

I'm not for the death penalty but I do think that it's the law in the country they committed their crime and I doubt there's anything that will get them out of it now. It's terribly sad that their lives will end because of a foolish decision they made at 21 years old.

i dont support the death penalty at all, I dont think humans have the right to kill other humans BUT I feel sorry for what these families are going through, sorry for the pain their loved ones but not for them, they didnt think about the hurt they would cause, 21 year olds do stupid **** all the time? no, no they dont SOME may and SOME pay the consequences for that stupid ****, if these people had got into a car drunk and hit someone we wouldnt be all 'oh poor them' how horrible, do they deserve to die? no because no human has the right to take anothers life,

i have sympathy for their families, how horrible and how sad that they will loose a loved one

I don't support the death penalty at all. Not for any crime.

I will say that most 21 year olds don't do stuff this epically stupid but I would say that it was probably a few small mistakes that led up to this one huge one? Didn't someone say their families were threatened? They obviously got in over their head and now they're paying the ultimate price.

Yes they broke the law, yes they did the wrong thing! But do they deserve to die? I don't believe so, no.
I'm against the death penalty. I am really feeling for these boys and their families.

    I stand for mercy.

Ben Quilty interview on Radio National yesterday morning - this gives a real insight into what the turn around to Myurans and Andrews lives have been in prison, the impact they have on fellow prisoners and the importance of a world with mercy...

Remember this is not a debate thread. It is clear you have not followed this story. There is nothing to debate here- just public support for those who stand for mercy. My heart breaks for Myuran and Andrew and their families.

I'm not a religious person but I'm praying to those I know I have passed away to see if anything can be done. Amd the more I learn about Andrew and Myuran and the great men they have become and their beautiful families the more distressed I get.

I reiterate- I stand for mercy.
