Default why are tafe courses so damn expensive?!

I'm very interesting in studying a cousre. It will go part time for 2 years. I'll have to start at certificate 3. The thing is though I already have cert 3 in another conpletely different field, which means I will have to pay full fees instead of "upskilling" and being eligable for government assistance. Its so unfair. I don't want to pay as I go either as we're already doing it tough. Any suggestions on what to do?

What course are you trying for? Do you work in a similar field as tax deductions may apply.

Just out of curiosity, how much are tafe courses these days?
Back when I did mine in 2005, diplomas were around $2000 for 18months

I know the private RTO's can vary. Same course can be from 9-25k which is why it pays o shop around. I would assume TAFE would be at the lower end of that.

I was of the understanding that if you are paying by Vet fee help it is more expensive than if you paid it up front? Is that the case for you? I want to do my Diploma of Accounting but don't have the money ATM as I am on mat leave.
