    Default Mirena Removal Query

    Hi Ladies,
After 18 months of having the Mirena I have decided to get it out.
It just hasn't worked for me, I had it because of wanting to cease my periods not contraception as DH has vasectomy but I am still spotting once a month with the occasionally unexpected gushes too and cramping.

I am worried about getting it removed as some say you bleed very heavily for weeks and compare it to after birth bleeding.
I have accepted the spotting etc as part of life but know I really should get it removed.

Can anyone offer up their experiences with removal of the Mirena and what I might be up against - good and bad?
I am reading that the Mirena can be blamed for a few side effects - loss of sex drive, discharge to name a few and now I am wondering if this is the same in my case of just coincidences.

    Thanks

I had mirena for 3.5 years, got it out about 4 months ago. I didnt really get period while marina in, just spotting every couple months. Since its been out, i get an average - heavy flow ( normal for me) on a 28 - 34 day cycle

I had my mirena out in October. No bleeding or even spotting while I had it in (3yrs). I have had light/normal periods since.

I had some side effects during my first year with it but after that, when I improved my diet and started to do some more exercise I found all the side effects were non existent.

I had no bleeding at all after I got my mirena out. Spotting disappeared completely and AF went back to prior to having it in.

Same for me too. My GP took it out, took a couple of minutes.
