Default Mansfield State High School/Clairvaux MacKillop College

My children currently attend a catholic primary school. I'm considering secondary school options. We're in the catchment for Mansfield High which has a very good reputation from what I hear although i don't know anyone who has kids that attend. I want my children to have a co-ed secondary education. I'm concerned because Mansfield High is such a big school and wonder if a smaller catholic secondary school would be an easier transition (coming from a small catholic primary school). The only thing is that Clairvaux MacKillop (the closest co-ed catholic school) doesn't perform very well academically when compared to Mansfield High. Again I don't know anyone with kids who actually go there. I'd love to hear any feedback on both schools or if anyone has faced a similar decision. Thank you so much.

Have heard nothing but great things about Mansfield. Very strict school . A lady I know sends her son there and says it's exactly what he needed with discipline etc . Not sure on clairvaux

    Default Looking into it too

Only yesterday, I had a conversation with my son's teacher about high school options. She could not recommend Mansfield more. She had 2 kids there who have gone on to do great things with their lives and she was so persistent that we keep Mansfield at the top of our list. We do not live in the catchment area though. State High and Clairvaux are our other 3 choices...and St Thomas Moore, Sunny Bank. My son is very sports oriented and Mansfield does not seem to have much in Sports as does State High. Hmmmmm

It's such a difficult decision isn't it? Have you heard much about Clairvaux?

Cav rd has always had a terrible reputation unless it's cleaned itself up in recent time?

Thanks happygirl1982, I'd be really interested to hear further details about the specifics of what she likes about Clairvaux (if she's willing to share).

Clairvaux does sound good when you read their website. I also went to one of their Windows Days and it all looked good but I just don't understand why that doesn't translate into their results.

When I compare their results to Mansfield High it doesn't seem to compete.

I know there's a whole lot more to a school than just it's academic outcomes. I also know that Naplan and OP scores etc are not really a good measure of a school's performance but it's hard to ignore them when that's all you've really got to go on.
