Default Can I use EMLA prior to having a mole surgically removed?

I'm hate needles and am wondering if there is any contraindication to using numbing cream (emla) prior to the local for removal of a suspicious mole?

    Have you used it?

I used have used emla before having a thing removed from my forehead. It worked well....but the doctor also used very thin needles for the first layer of anesthetic.

I've used EMLA a few times before a local and the doctors were fine with it but I can't say it helped with the pain of the local.

I agree with PP. I had a mole on my arm removed before Christmas. I tried using Emla but found that it did nothing to help with the sting of the anatheistic. I'm pretty good with needles but had to say a few choice words!

Sorry. Probably not what you wanted to hear. 😞
