    Default First Response? False Positive?

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a false positive on a first response test before?

LMP was 25/12. Ovulated approx 05/01 and condom broke around 06/01. I'm about 12DPO and received a positive from a first response test today, but negative from a confirm brand test.

This is a huge surprise. Our youngest just turned 1 and our eldest isn't even 3 yet!!

    Thank you,

    Effie

    Photo of test?

Ps. It is actually impossible to get a false positive on a pregnancy test unless you are injecting fertility hormones (I could go into the scientific explanation, but it involves antibodies, bhCG, and dye-antibody-binding, etc, and would bore you silly).

I've had many false positives with First Response, I tested once at 14dpo and done two more tests at 15dpo after a missed period. The lines all showed up in the allowed time as well, and as clear as.
All three turned up positive, so I got a clear blue digital and tested and it was negative.

And that wasn't the first time it happened either, it happened to me once again after..
I refuse to use them, and went to clear blue digital only.
And got my bfp months later.

Quiet disappointing, but try again first thing tomorrow maybe?

    I agree with j37
The second test may be too early for a bfp or it may be a chemical preg.

    Default First Response? False Positive?

I agree. It's impossible to have a false bfp. HCg is measured only. HCg is only secreted when pregnant or using fertility drugs.
First response was always correct for me. I had negatives with digitals, but positives with first response prior to chemical pregnancies. I know I was technically pregnant due to the blood tests for IVF.
I believe first response tests a lower level of hCg than other brands.

I'd say the confirm test might be less sensitive..especially if you'd had a drink of water beforehand. Test again tomorrow with another first response.

I've tested this morning with First response and have a definite BFP. Off to the doctors to confirm.

    Thank you for all responses
