I know someone was asking about sewing machines a while back, Spotlight have this one on special at the moment, $249 down to $99, I have it and it's really good if you don't want to make a big investment in a sewing machine

@JR03 have you found the EL2000 okay with heavier fabrics or multiple layers?

Multiple layers, yes it's fine, but the heaviest I have sewn with is corduroy, it went fine with that.

I hope I can get enough practice to be better one day, I want to make memory quilts out of clothes for my kids when they're grown up, and I would LOVE to learn how to turn my MCNs into toy animals like I saw a hubber had done once!

So I'll start, here's what I've done the past couple of days - just some playsuits for DD

Hi hun, do you think these would be easy for a beginner?

Yes! Super easy. This is the stuff I started with & made all of the ones above in just a couple of nights while DD1 was in bed. It's the Tadah seaside romper pattern, and comes with a detailed tutorial with pictures that are easy to follow

    Sewing.jpg

I have recently started sewing, as my Grandfather gave me all my Grandmother's dressmaking accessories.

I made this Christmas nightie and shorts for my kids for Christmas. I also made giant Christmas faux fur stockings.

I have to admit though, I'm not a big fan of patterns- is that normal?
