Take from the Sunrise Facebook page:
"A former Labor government minister is suggesting welfare recipients should be required to have contraception, as a condition of their payments. Gary Johns says no-one should enter parenthood while on a benefit. Mr Johns says it's better to avoid having children until parents can afford them. He says compulsory contraception for those on benefits would help crack intergeneration reproduction of strife. So is Mr Johns right?"

I guess he never heard of contraception not being fail proof.
So no babies
No extracurricular activities
No expensive items - especially large tv's
Seriously you would think he was paying people welfare out of his own bonuses and government wages.
Here is one for the pollies
No colourful pasts
No extra money, offices, cars etc
Sorry rant over.

How about disability support recipients, carer payment recipients, students? Are they "allowed" to reproduce? Makes me want to vomit.

Sounds like a very simplified and poorly considered 'solution' to a very complex issue.

You can't even police it! How ridiculous and simplistic. What's next? Sterilising everyone who has more than 2 children and are on the long term dole?
Instead of that, why not just hand out free contraception to everyone - in this day and age we shouldn't have to pay for it - but that's for another thread!

If only the ability to parent could be reduced to who can afford to pay.
We could solve that chit overnight!

So what payments is he suggesting will be affected? Just Newstart? Carers, disability? Ftb? Parenting payments?
The very idea is absolutely ridiculous! I wish these pollies would think before they open their mouths.
