Thank you so much everyone, your advice has been wonderful!
I am feeling much better about it all.
She is such a lovely person, so caring and considerate.
I just couldn't picture how it would affect me if it was me in her shoes,
it would be ignorant of me to pretend that I could. I could only try to imagine.
Again, thank you so much! Armed with your advice, I am going to be the friend that she deserves

I'm another one that's been your friend. Thank you for taking the time to consider her feelings. So many with infertile friends take the 'suck it up and be happy for me or you are spoiling it' route and it just creates so much angst.
Agree with others. Tell her over the phone, a text message would be best. That way she can process her feelings without having to keep a tough upper lip so as not to upset you. It will give her the chance to have a cry (which she probably will) pull herself together and be happy for you. Infertile women genuinely are happy for those around us that fall, just sad for us.

Just an update for you all, I told my beautiful friend our happy news. I sent her a text message and adapted the suggestions you all made. She took quite some time to answer, I was really sad. Then she sent back a lovely text thanking me for caring so much but more for including her in our news and that she wants to be as involved as possible with our baby. I cried when I read it. What a lovely Christmas present, being even closer to my friend and having such a wonderful person and role model in our baby's life. Merry Christmas to you all and thank you so much for helping me
