Ok, so I've puzzled over this all day.... I know, I need to get a life.... But, the gag reflex is a reflex, designed to prevent us from choking on food that may lodge in our throats, right, so how could numbing the mouth with a lolly pop help?

When you swallow your saluva it acts as a numbing agent for your throat as well.

And anewme, the ones we sell at work just look like lollipops. =)

Eta: Sorry, OP. I didnt mean to take the thread OT witg my suggestion. Just thought it could be useful.

Aah. If its her actual teeth and not the gums/nerves then probably not. Sorry. =(

When you get braces it is the teeth and the jaw that hurt as well as the irritation of the metal in your mouth. I found pain killers and going nuts with the wax much more helpful then a numbing gel. Soft foods like chips and gravy help to not aggravate it.

Well I'm getting braces Monday (may be the only person in my family that won't put on any weight this Christmas 😝)

I'll shall investigate these lolly pops, thanks for the heads up. I'm concerned with irritation from the metal on my mouth.

I'll also be pre-purchasing so pain meds

    Any other suggestions?
