Default Fiji or Hamilton Island with baby

We want to book our first family holiday for June 2015. We have got prices for Fiji and Hamilton Island and they are fairly similar, so I can't decide.

Fiji is the outrigger and Hamilton Island is the reef view hotel. Does anyone have any experience with either and which would be more suitable with a 9 month old baby?

I would say Hamilton island would be better for a young baby just because you know all the food and water is safe. It's a great island you'll have lots of fun there.

I've been to both and I would choose fiji. Hamilton Island is ridiculously expensive.... Food and drinks are so expensive. The island is tricky to get around and everything is a long way away. The service is much better in fiji

I've also been to both and stayed at both hotels and agree with pp, Fiji is better value for money and fine for babies - last time we went with a group of friends they had a 6 month old and a 18 month old and food is fine - the fruit and vegg are fresh, the seafood is caught their and all the meat is imported from Australia - the only thing you need to do is drink bottled water ( for drinking and making formula) and just make sure you book transfers with a car seat

We went to Hamilton Island when DS was 7 months and loved it. We didn't have any trouble getting around. I would recommend palm bungalows with a baby (they're part of the reef view hotel), the kitchenette was very useful for us!

Childcare is expensive though. we had no need for it but it would probably be cheaper in Fiji.
