I know the interest rates have dropped heaps lately mamasupial, but it still might be worth putting your money into a high interest online account

Yea we are already doing that. DP puts money in it weekly and I put money in it fortnightly.

You'll get there Mamasupial. We have a deposit saved up but can't get a loan because I'm a student. So annoying having to pay rent when that could be paying off a house! But also glad to be enjoying a nice & convenient suburb we could never afford to buy in anyway atm.

Alot of banks will accept a 5% deposit + settlement expenses. So for a house a bit under 400k you could get away with 20k deposit. What they most care about is your capacity to repay. Highy recommend a seeing a mortgage broker, we saw one awhile back and it was valuable.
