Default PCOS/Polyps removed/First cycle of iVF. Follicles not growing.

    Hi All,

Im new to this and ive read heaps of forums online, i would love to share my story and hear from anyone in a similar situation.

    TTC for 3years now.

Im 27 years old, Diagnosed with PCOS in 2012. 3 rounds of chlomid bt no success so they stopped and said my next step is iVF.
Im on my first cycle of iVF now. Been on FSH injections for 13 days now. 3 bloods and scans app. Ive been advised im fertile and i have plenty of follicles however they just arent growing. They increased my dosage frm 75-100 and now im bleeding and the nurse advised it wasnt a good sign but its not too bad either (dunno what to mke of that) Tday shes advised my first cycle could b cancelled due to the Christmas holidays! Feels like its just set back after set back.

Would love to hear frm anyone in the same boat as myself.

    Hi Herxshe!

I'm 30 and also have PCOS - I tried Clomid also with no success and went on to IVF September this year.

My cycle started rubbish as well! I was on 75 I'm pretty sure of gonal-f to begin with, and the first week they almost sent me to egg pick up thinking I had a follicle - nope just a bit fat cyst that was growing from the hormone lol
They then upped my gonal-f and this went on for another week, still nothing big enough. I had a bleed during my cycle and they said it was ok to keep going and upped my gonal-f to 150 in the end.
I finally produced ONE follicle that was a decent size and was producing the right amount of hormone to go to pickup.
Day 21 I went to egg pickup and we got one egg from my one follicle.

Anyway after all that it fertilised well, and I just had my 13 week scan and bub is looking good! So don't give up hope, it can be hard for them to judge the right amount of stimulant with PCOS because we're so susceptible to over stimulation and you don't want that - it's a horrible experience from what I've heard from other IVF'ers.

Good luck and hang in there! If you wanna chat anytime feel free 😊

    Default .

    Hi Jaybu84

Thats awesome news! Congrats to you and your family! Cant wait to say the same 😆

They called me yesterday asking i bump my dosage upto 125 and my next blood and scan test is Friday. Im hoping something will happen this time or if it doesnt that they increase it to 150 before cancelling. I done my injections this morning and i was so tempted to just inject 150.! 😕 But i didnt lol i guess if its cancelled then now just isnt the right time for us. Was just desperate for some results before the holidays as it wouldve been the best xmas prezzie 😆

Thanks heaps for sharing and il keep this post updated incase anyone wants something to read in their spare time 😆

    Hi herxShe,

I have also been diagnosed with PCOS, had a polyp removed last year and moved onto IVF around the middle of this year after trying clomid. Although I responded to clomid, we then found out we were also dealing with MFI so IVF is our best chance.

My first cycle was cancelled as I didn't respond as they would have liked. Second cycle they upped my meds, ended up with 4 or 5 five day embryos and had one transferred and it didn't stick.

Next cycle we now know what meds to start on and I will be given extra progesterone following the transfer.

As previously said, it only takes one. And even if a cycle is cancelled, at least everyone learns what to change for the next one.

    Good luck!!!!

    For anyone thats interested.
I had my bloods and scan yesterday.
    Unfortunately not much change
Still plenty of follicles but still not growing. She did measure one and said it was 10mm. They are leaving my dosage at 125 until my nxt app nxt Wednesday.
Fingers crossed something happens to these follicles so they dont cancel my cycle this year
