    Default Direct flight or connecting with young kids to Gold Coast?

    Opinions please! Hubby & I are planning our first big holiday to the Gold Coast with our 3 kids (7,4 & 3 yrs at the time of trip).

    Direct flight from Hobart to Brisbane (then travel from Brisbane to Gold Coast in hire car....same day)

    OR

    Hobart -> Sydney (1Hr & 35 Min stop over) -> Gold Coast.

    Im concerned that a direct flight maybe to much and the tantrums will start.

    A stop over maybe a nightmare aswell while waiting in the airport but it gives the kids an opportunity to stretch.... to

    My sister flies from Hobart to Bris with her little fellow. She always opts for the direct flight as he gets too ratty if there's a long stop over. He is only 2 though.

    It's a 2 hourish flight? Definitely direct, the stop over in Sydney would be way more painful. Direct to the Gold Coast would be best if available.

    Would go direct flight. Gold Coast isnt all that far from Brissy once you get on the highway.

    Thank you for your opinions. Much appreciated

    Hubby and I recently went on a direct flight to Brisbane and I must say that I struggled with the flight time of only 3 hrs . Seats were uncomfortable and I was just so antsy. Im concerned that the kids will be the exact same and then having to drive in the car for a further hour to the gold coast

    I would go the direct flight. I fly to the Gold Coast from adelaide with my 4 daughters a few times a year, 2.5hour flight. I would actually hate stopping over for a few hours and just get straight there. The drive to the GC from Brisbane is around an hour.
