My bub was terribly constipated on S-26 gold. She would be screaming in pain trying to go to the toilet. Might be a different story for you though if your bub is on solids (especially pear)

When DD was mixed fed EBM and S-26 gold she never had any constipation issues whatsoever. Her neonatologist recommended S-26 gold so we listened to his advice.
When we eventually shifted to all formula (9.5 months) I noticed she was a little less regular, far from constipated, but we switched the S-26 regular which had her back to regular again.
I would be more than happy to mix feed with s-26 gold if the need arose again with this baby

S26 gold as always been my first choice of formula dd1 was formula feed from 5 days dd2 had it for a few months (bf for 9m) and dd3 used it a bit when I was around to feed her (bf 15m) I never had a problem with it the reason I used it was my sil and sister used it for there kids a dp used it for his son so i didn't really think of trying anything else :-)

I tried it with both of my girls with no luck. Made both of them constipated and really uncomfortable. It also has a really strong smell (all formulas do but this was especially bad).
I switched to bellamys organic and it's been amazing, no tummy issues at all
But formula is such a personal thing, what one kid struggles on, another will be fine and love it.

All 3 of my children were given S26 although my youngest was the only one to get gold and it was LF but either way none of them had any problems. Like pp said a lot of people like bellamy's organic I know my SIL did. My sister tried using karicare and my nephew ended up with terrible belly bloat and was in a lot of pain but a friends baby has had no problem with it, so it really depends on the baby

Sorry I don't use S26 - not because of the above article (batch was recalled too) but because I just started on Karicare and never had any issues.
I don't notice that he smells funny with it although a friend of mine with a DD same age as my DS uses S26 has no issues other than she smells a bit "funny".
I know that a few doctors/CHNs recommend that if you are going to use formula to use S26.
You don't really know if it will agree with bub until you try. As a PP mentioned every baby is different and what agrees with one will not with another
