I will be commencing maternity leave with our second bub and I have paid leave entitlements of annual, long service, work maternity leave and the govt ppl. While I am being paid all these benefits for 16months can I still claim the CCR considering I won't be technically at work but I will still be getting an income? I am wanting to still keep my little guy in kindy a couple of days a week to keep a place and give him some other outlets to learn and play with kids his age.

Yep you sure can! I'm on mat leave with our third bub and I've kept DS2 in day care 2 days a week. We aren't entitled to CCB but it won't affect your CCR. those two days are my lifesaver at the moment (DS1 is at school).
Good luck with your bubba!
Me + DH = DS1 (6), DS2 (2) and #3 due September 8th

I thought you could only get it for 12 months but could be wrong.

I would call and ask centre link but I don't have half a day to sit on the phone waiting!! Even if it is 12 months I am happy with that whatever makes the finances stretch that further!

I went into centrelink to ask this last year and was told yes it's 12 months but they never actually check again once it's on there so unless you tell them to stop it'll be fine. You may be job hunting etc after this time which all counts towards getting the CCR.

The 12 months is the "maternity leave" part. If using other leave as well then that's not part of the 12 month cut off
You will satisfy the work, training, study test if you are either:
on annual leave or long-service leave,
on sick or other paid leave,
on paid or unpaid parental leave, for up to a maximum of 12 months,
on self-employment leave, including sick leave,
receiving Carer Payment,
receiving Carer Allowance,
caring for a person with disability, or
on carer leave or carer sick leave
