CAMom, I had my first scan booked at 7w (i got the referral before I left from my FS) get into a OB as soon as you can, sounds stupid but they book up quickly and you might need the support ( I had early bleeding) once you are on their books you are officially their patient so they can help you even though most 1st appointments are around the 10w mark. If you get your 1st scan referral through your GP perhaps see if they can refer you to a specialist women's ultrasound place.

This thread is being a life saver for me. I'm still making my way through the previous threads and taking notes of information you ladies have provided. Not much still happening with me I'm just getting all my results together and then will look at finding a donor. I think I may just send some photos of me to the agencies and get their opinions for a donor. I've never been overseas before so this is scaring the crap out of me. Did your partner have a semen analysis done so you could send that over. My partners was back in 2009 but just recently Monash have said its above average so is it really still necessary?
I will be having a frozen transfer of my last eggs hopefully in the next few weeks.

CAMom - I contacted my OB with my first natural pregnancy at 6.5 weeks and the receptionist ummed about whether he could fit me in or not!
The good ones book up really fast!! It was sad that the first time I got to meet him was at 9 weeks, 2 days before our first appt, when I started bleeding as I was having a MC. It was lovely to go see him and he had me scanned within an hour and I had my D&C at 7pm that night. I would have hated to have had to go sit in an Emergency Room all day and see any old dr.
When we got pregnant with our son thru IVF, he booked us in for an early scan at 7 weeks and happily scanned us at every appt thereafter to let me see/hear that everything was going well.
definately ask around for recommendations of OBs who work at the hospital you want and make an appt. I fibbed and said I already had a referral so I could book early, then had 3 weeks to get one anyway! Enjoy! This is all the fun stuff now!

Lisaxxx - I would contact CFC and ask re your partners results. My husbands were 2 years old and they accepted them, however we ended up deciding that it was worth the $120 to get it retested as we would have hated to end up with zero fertilization because something had changed and we hadn't bothered getting it retested. Better to spend a few $$ now than waste $15k and a whole cycle!

CAmon - wishing you lovely growing numbers with your further BT tonight.
Mardi - So pleased all worked out well for you. Even though I already started Lucrin daily as per my local FS, both himself and CFC were happy for me to use the depot (I hope it was alright after getting lost!). We had it transported in the cold chain packaging, so I hope it wouldn't have got too hot. I used the depot and you are correct it was very complicated! Nonetheless I managed to give it IMI.
As for your inquiry re pram, seat etc. We are bringing a Quicksmart foldable stroller, which can be stowed as carry on. Our hotel has a portacot which we are using and we will hire a car with a child seat. As for airport pickup we have arranged for a company called En route to pick us up. They are connected to the hotel and they picked us up last time. They are charging R350 including child seat for toddler. Jodie also kindly provided me with contact details for another transporter, but unfortunately my email went into their junk folder and I had already booked with hotel. That said, they were R395. I also received a quotation from another company who quoted R600!!!
I would be happy to PM you Enroutes details if required. We decided to hire the car the day after we arrive, as 1. We will be exhausted and 2. We arrive late at night.
As a matter of interest for others, I had wondered if we would have to clear immigration at Joburg or Cape Town and was advised that clearance would occur at Joburg.
Faith - I had wanted the once only shot, so as to not have to worry about stuffing up timing or forgetting. That said, I had the stress of it not arriving when my local FS wanted me to start. If you order it from the international pharmacy, be sure to request international courier, which Aus Customs have advised me usually arrives between 36-72 hrs and completely bypasses Aus post.
Lisa - Welcome my dear. I wish you every bit of success with your journey. We has a repeat semen analysis performed here recently, having not had one attended for 2 years. Unfortunately, DH results were not as good as they were 2 years ago. Now we have the dilemma of using fresh, frozen or both!!!
Patsy and Williteverhappen - thinking of you both. Xx

Em & Mardi thank you for your advice I already have an OB/GYN I emailed her to put in for the HCG tests & to ask for a 11/17 scan at 6 weeks so fingers crossed that gets set up! She has been awesome about pxs testing etc
Laned if you are renting a car you can just pick it up at the airport that's what we did it was quite cheap & very easy may save you the cost of an airport pick up?
OMG got chills seeing my name on the roll call as a BFP & wish all you November girls the same! Had my second HCG and it came back at 614 up from 221 so the reality of this is starting to sink in. My body is still adjusting to the time change of 10 hours and also maybe pregnancy so have been crashing early evening and waking early morning
Lisa welcome, you will find this thread so helpful & a great support I suggest going back to #1 and reading it from the beginning takes time but it so worth it! Also, take your time finding your donor it took us 4 months to find one we liked. I highly recommend Dr LR & if you have a choice pick Elaine as your co-ordinator ours was Karin but she is not in every day so that makes communication with her sometimes difficult & delayed
Patsy & Williteverhappen hope all is going well for you both in Cape Town!

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and new to considering egg donor option after 4 unsuccessful attempts at IVF with PGD. Still grieving at the news that I am unlikely to be successful with my own eggs, so I imagine we won't be ready to pursue anything for a few months, but meanwhile I'm interested in finding out more about egg donor option in South Africa and would really appreciate some basic info - approx. cost, timeframe from making the decision to going ahead, and also whether anyone went through Denise Bernstein at Fertility East and whether the extra cost is worthwhile or whether it is possible to organise it all on your own (with the help of you lovely ladies and this forum, of course!!).
Finally, there are some suggestions about reading through all the South Africa threads from the very beginning and summarising them... I was wondering if I could be cheeky and ask if someone has maybe already done that so I could get a head start before I can find the time to do it myself? Thank you so much!!

CaMom probably better to wait until 7 w for the scan as sometimes you won't see a HB before then and it will only stress you out!
