It's a bit hard to tell really from the photo. Had you just posted that photo of him, I would have just seen a normal every day 4 year old. Because you SPECIFICALLY asked if he looked underweight, I looked carefully at his arms and legs, and his arms do look a lot slimmer than my 3 and 4.5 year olds do, but still fairly normal to me! Depends I guess on how his trunk looks. Like is his back bone or his ribs sticking out? He certainly doesn't look unhealthy underweight in the photo, maybe just on the smaller side.

I am a little concerned ONLY because he isn't a very good eater ...I struggle at dinner times.
Nobody has commented about his weight to me at all....I guess I'm just a over concerned Mummy...
Thanks for all of the replies he needs to have his next needles soon before he starts preschool next year so I will ask the DR then..

No, he doesn't. DD is going through her just picking at her food phase, so unless a child looked consistently undernourished I wouldn't think anything of it.

My DS turned 4 last week and was 19.5kg at his 4 year old check up which is apparently average weight for that age and he looks similar to your DS - how much does he weigh?

He's trim but looks healthy - my boy at around 4 looked similar, most boys in our family (there's 9 of them between 3-5 yrs and they have a trim stage around 3 to 4 yrs. DS1 was 23kg at 3yrs 4months then 20kg at 4

My DS isn't quite 4 but us much smaller than your boy. He eats well, just seems to have a quick metabolism like DH. I wouldn't be concerned. Your boy is looking healthy. Good idea talking to your Dr if it is worrying you.

Nope. I have a 4 yr old and 5 yr old and both are tall and skinny, they always have been. They go through eating heaps and not eating much phases.
