We're building our home so we get to choose. We'll have one in the play room (which is just a large open space off the kids bedroom area) and one in our bedroom. I'm not a fan of TV in our bedroom (as I can't sleep after watching TV) but there's no where else to put it if we want it out of the main living area.
ETA my sister hates TV as her husband is mildly addicted so she moved theirs into a spare bedroom. Their house is tiny.

1 and we'll hopefully only ever have 1. If my son wants one when he gets older it would have to be in his mid to late teens. none in our bedroom. Not needed and I actually refuse to have one in our bedroom. We rent and live in open 0lan currently so no other place to put it buy lounge room.

We have 4. One in the lounge, one in our bedroom, one in the playroom (well, family room but set up like a playroom) and I have a small one in the kitchen.
I spend a LOT of time cooking and baking. I hate quiet. So I have it on for background noise. I love watching certain tv shows and movies. It feels like a small escape from reality.

One for a family of five. We record the programs we like to watch and watch them when we have time. The tv is never on for the sake of being on.
We used to have one in our bedroom years ago, and liked it, but I don't miss it and have no plans to put a tv in our room.
We did have a tv just in our bedroom years ago. There was nowhere to put it in the lounge room so it lived in our room. It was great for eliminating the 'turn on the tv and watch it just because you're sitting down' habit. I found our kids rarely asked for it too...out of sight, out of mind.
