Default Which car would you choose?

We are currently in the market for a 'new' car. We are looking at a 2002 BA ford through dealership, and 2002 vx commodore privately. Both same price. Thoughts?

They're both similar size and engine size, so I'd look at things like kilometers, service history etc.

Also, if you search online, you can usually find lists of common faults for each car model.

Yeah ive looked into that, more looking for people who have owned either one and their preference. I have had a commodore, just never a ford.

Not the Holden. I had a 1999 vt commodore and it was a lemon. Not sure if fords are any better

If they are the same price, my next decider would be K's. You can expect to negotiate a bit more off the dealer car too.

When looking at those two cars though you really need to drive both as they handle quite differently and most people prefer one over the other.

I owned a ba as did a few family members and I would highly recommend NOT buying one. Hubby was a devout ford fan until we had our BA.
If you do decide to go ahead with it please get your mechanic to check it over fully before purchasing. In particular, power steering hoses, suspension bushes and coils... As these are problems every person I know who has had a BA has had to deal with.

We have decided to go with the BA. Its getting a master inspection from RACQ before we purchase. As we were in the office getting the paperwork drawn up the seller of the VX retracted his car from sale - must have been fate.

Thats what I have now, its a 97.. I went about it all wrong when buying it and screwed myself. We ended up driving it into the ground, wasn't worth fixing.
