Default Did you go off LMP or when ovulation

    Hi,

Just wanted to know did you have your first scan for a heartbeat at 7 weeks from your LMP or the date you think you ovulated?

I mean it can't possibly take two weeks of swimming for the sperm to get to where it is going. Can it?

7 weeks from lmp. Though I had my dating scan at 9 weeks cause they couldnt fit me in anytime sooner. And no sperm doest take 2 weeks to get to egg..... sperm meets egg fertilises then can take time to travel to uterus... watch the great sperm race

Pregnancies are officially counted from 2 weeks prior to ovulation/conception, which for a lot of women is the date of their LMP (but obviously if you don't have a 28 day cycle than this will be totally off!).
A scan at 7 weeks would show a 5 week old embryo, which is a perfectly reasonable time to have a dating scan. But having a scan 7 weeks after ovulation would also be fine, but you'd be called 9 weeks pregnant, the embryo would be measured as 9 weeks.
    It's a bit silly really.
    Hope that helps?
