Default HCG of 10 at 14dpiui - is there any hope?

    Hi everyone,
I've just been through my third iui. The first time I had a low hcg level (not sure of the number) and very low progesterone at about 16dpiui. At that point they put me on progesterone pessaries but too late I think and it didn't work.

Try two - did progesterone blood tests soon after iui and went on pessaries around 3dpiui. I did a hpt at 14dpiui with a faint positive, and did another at 15 with negative. The blood test came back negative.

I'm currently 14dpiui for this cycle and had a blood test today come back at hcg of 10 and progesterone of 63. I'm on progesterone pessaries again. I've been getting cramps. Wondering if there is any point in being hopeful?? I don't understand what's going wrong :-( I go back for another test in 2 days.

I'm sorry for your struggle. Sounds like try number 2 and this current try you have had 'chemical pregnancies'. I had one... They're rubbish! You get a glimmer of hope and then it's gone! So sad
Unfortunately I don't think there is too much hope this time. I'm really sorry. A pregnancy is HCG above 50, or at least that's what my clinic goes on, but it varies a bit. Have you considered asking for an endometrial scratch? It's a short procedure that injures the lining which encourages it to grow back stronger in the cycle when you have an IUI. It gives a massive boost to implantation success! Well worth it!! Best of luck!

Thanks Littledove. I don't understand why my body keeps doing this! I did a hpt today with a BFN. Don't really see the point in doing the blood test. I will look into endometrial scratching. I think I need to start considering IVF.

I don't know either... It's really crap! Not to mention heart breaking. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
I don't know where you are but if you are in, near or able to travel to Brisbane then Dr Warren De Ambrosis is an absolute baby miracle worker!

Big hugs, chemical pregnancies are horrible getting your hopes up and then crushing them. IVF may be a good option, then the most viable looking embryos can be transferred and maybe increase your chances. Good luck!

Sorry it hasn't worked out for you. Sounds like IVF might be a bit more 'sure fire' for you.

@SupremeMugwump I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with iui. I've just booked in for a consultation w/ my fs to go through the whole process of iui and possibly ivf. May I ask how long you have been ttc?

Thanks everyone. I am just waiting on blood test results today. Yesterday I did a hpt and got a very faint positive which wasn't there the day before so it got my hopes up again. But I still know deep down that this one is not likely to work!! I don't know whether to try a fourth iui or go to ivf - ivf is going to be so much more expensive because I don't have private hospital cover.

@Tiggzie - I've only been TTC with the lat three iui's - I can't try any other way as my partner is female! So we weren't really expectingr fertility problems. I just wish we could try for free. It's so bloody expensive!!

If it's not fertility related then I'd give IUI a couple more tries!

Got the results back - bad news. Sat at my desk at work crying and then decided to go home. I don't know how people do this for years I can't handle three cycles. And the worst part is you can't really discuss it with people. Now I have to make the decision - $5000 on ivf or $2300 on iui. It's a gamble. Sorry for whinging.
