Mum makes a dish with chicken and sweet corn in puff pastry. Growing up we called them chicken thingies - to this day we all still know what we are talking about when we say chicken thingies for dinner.

So many yummy made up dishes.
@Ashfirst my mum has a pasta dish we all know as mincey muck, everyone calls it that no explanation required!
@redlipsandpearls I have some extra zucchinis in the fridge so will try this out for sure.
@Marigold your DH sounds like gourmet chef with that made up meal. It sounds delish.

Cook until potatoes are nice and golden.

I make this as a side dish once a week. It is the ONLY way my kids will eat potatoes that aren't chips.
My DD isn't a potato fan other than chips so I'll test this out hopefully she will love it

Haha we have "fancy rice" (as opposed to plain rice).
Peas, corn, four bean mix, cherry/grape tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and soy sauce mixed into rice.
DP also came up with "tomato bread" - basically bruschetta but with the bread chopped into tiny pieces, all mixed in a bowl and eaten with a spoon...

I do sliced potatoes (1 per adult, 1/2ish per child), dice an onion, slice a capsicum, any colour, and put into a pan with enough veg stock to cover with maybe 1-3 cm more.simmer until potatoes are soft. Mmm, delicious side dish for things like steak. Just realised I hadn't made it in a while. Will be doing that tomorrow night!
It just gets called "that potato and capsicum thing".
