The whole thing??? I thought it was 8!
So if I leave my job in December and start studying before my child turns 6 will I still be eligible?

It Is about to change - another thing courtesy of the Abbott government. You'll have to do volunteer work or something. My friend just graduated uni a few weeks ago - haven't even had the ceremony yet - she has already applied for graduate positions but they don't start till Feb and you find out in Oct - and already Centrelink have rung and made a meeting appoint to discuss what she is doing!!

Hmm, it doesn't say anything about the changes on the website yet (I just had a look), but they are definitely starting to call people to advise them how the changes are going to affect them.

If your on pps you can still get it if your child turns 6 till they are 8 but you do have to look for work. You move onto new start which is lower rate once they hit 8.

Thanks for the clarification ProudMumma. That must be why they are setting up those meetings with people on SPP.

School pick up and drop off won't be excuses though for not going to job network appointments or Centre link appointments.

A friend told me about one woman on pps who was made to attend a week long seminar despite her having 2 kids to pick up from school.

But stuff like studying full time might get you an exemption.
