Can anyone advise me of a good GP who is used to dealing with babies on the Brisbane Southside? I have been to two different GPs and found both of them to be unhelpful with answering my (a new mums) concerns. The first doctor actually had to call another doctor in the centre to answer each of my questions (which I am certain were not unusual for a new mum)!
I am happy to travel pretty much any where on the southside in order to take bub to a good doctor.
Thanks for your help.

Not sure if it's too far west for you, but all of the drs at Lakeside Medical at Springfield Lakes are fantastic. Our family dr there is Dr Bob Shirlaw, our kids are the 4th generation of DH's family to have him as their dr (he's not old though, would only be in his 50's). He can be quite difficult to get an appointment with, so we often see a different dr if we can't wait, and they are all wonderful. They all take the time to explain things fully to you and there is no rush out the door They do have a fee - about $60 for a regular appointment, but bulk bill for kids.

Instead of asking the GP. Have you considered making an appointment at the child health clinic at springwood?
They have midwives, baby nurses and lactation consultants all on staff and are there purely to help new mums and babies. I always found them much more helpful as they are specialists essential and had alot more current and supportive advice.
I went to the weekly newborn classes they hold for babies around the 4mth mark and it was amazing. They are all so helpful. They can weigh Bubs, do checkups and immunisations, help, give advise and referrals as well as just be very supportive in assuring you are doing a great job. They run classes for older Bubs also.
I loved the baby classes. Talking to other mums in the exact same scenario and making some great friends. Can't recommend it highly enough!!

I've been taking ds to Springwood Group General Practice since he was under 1. I've seen multiple drs there that have all been great, with the exception of one (ross) whom was older and wouldn't listen to me that there was something more than teething wrong with him.
They don't bulk bill adults but they do children. My favourite is Dr Kate McDonald but she may not be back from maternity leave. Allison, Julie are also lovely.

Dr Miles at Primary Medical Centre in Browns Plains spent a long time in pediatrics before training as a GP. I found him very good.
ETA-They bulk bill but don't take appts, you just rock up. You would have to call to see what days he works though.
