They are the most beautiful dogs, inside and out!
Our doggie is sweet natured, loving and gentle.
She has never growled and barks only on very rare occasions.
She puts up with all sorts of torment from DD and just takes it placidly
if you like excercising they are a great dog as they love to walk with you.
Very easily trained.
Dog hair. Everywhere and on everything. I vaccum our house daily.
Coat needs regular brushing, washing around once a month.
They are not a dog you can just leave in the back yard. They are extremely people oriented and will fret if they can't be inside with you.
They make horrible guard dogs, are much more likely to lick someone to death.
As a general rule, they are obsessed with food and will eat anything and everything, all day long if you let them!
They are a large dog, and while not as active as a working dog, they do need regular exercise, especially off lead and socialisation with other dogs.
All in all I would say that they are not a low maintainence pet, due to the coat and their need for company and exercise but for our family, the rewards far outweigh the work. Our golden is our first child, we adore her!

My good friend has 2, male and female. They found them fairly easy to train (although they got them as pups ) and very placid, very good with kids and other animals and dogs.
Pretty much what everyone else has said. Excellent nature. Shed everywhere. Large dogs so a farm would be great but assume you may need to shave them if the weather gets really hot?
