Default How do you organise your digital photos?

I have so many photos and they are not very organised at all which is very unlike me so my goal is to change that.

This is where you all come in. How do you organise your digital photos once downloaded to your computer?

We have a folder for each year then monthly folders in each year's folder. If there are heaps from one particular event eg. A holiday or birthday they have their own folder within the month.

If there was an app that could somehow organise your photos according to dates or even have a feature that would recognise faces and could sort by groups like that as well that would be tops...
I sort by adding a new folder every time I upload my photos into my computer but I'm a few months behind. And from years past it's a bit messy and shoved together. Haven't ever got anything printed- dd is 19 months and I still don't own a physical photo of her!

I use Lightroom and you can tag as you upload and retrieve via tags.. Also I save in year folders and then months.

Also Photoshop Elements you can tag. I use Elements for my digital scrapbooking supplies.

On my computer I have a folder with DD's name, then folders labelled 0-3months, 4-6 months, 7-9 months and so on. I keep them in 3 month increments, and if I can't remember how old she was exactly when I took it, I look at the 'photos' tab in my photos on my iPhone, and that gives me an approximate date on which a set of photos was taken. That helps.

I haven't had any photos printed in a long time, thanks for reminding me to get onto it!
